94 lawmakers voted in favour of the draft law, two against and 14 abstentions. The draft that was passed in the lower house of the parliament now heads to senate before it is tabled for the approval of President Pierre Nkurunziza.

UN launched high level investigations into the country after reports of crimes against humanity and the risk of genocide.

Do you think Burundi is right to withdraw from ICC?

ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda has said that she is conducting a preliminary examination into the violence in the country, with allegations of murder, torture, rape and forces disappearance on the rise.

African nations have recently been expressing discontent with the ICC, claiming that it only targets African states.
