The suspect has been identified as Musa Emunyu, a resident of Ajikai cell, Eastern ward in Amuria town council.

Emunyu, a former convict reportedly raped his 70-year-old mother on Sunday, hardly two days after he had returned from a jail sentence for theft.

Michael Odongo, East Kyoga regional police spokesperson says Emunyu reportedly went into hiding after raping his mother but was later arrested. Odongo says a police medical report confirmed that the woman suffered from sexual assault.

The victim told police that at around 2am on Sunday, the beast broke into her house and forced his mingling stick into her honeypot, raping her. The suspect is being held at Amuria Central Police Station waiting to appear in court on a charge of rape.

Odongo linked cases of rape to drug abuse by the youths in the area.
