UPDF Set To Retire Over 1000 Army Officers And Militants

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces ( UPDF ) will be retiring more than 1000 militants and army officers from direct operations in the upcoming financial year 2018 / 2019.

The retired Lt. Col Dr. Rwamirama Bright, the current state minister for Veteran Affairs chaired over the first week prior to retirement exercise for Ugandan soldiers to retire in Jinja at Gadhafi barracks.

Dr Rwamirama urged soldiers to carefully plan and prepare for their wealth and future so that they can make good lives for themselves throughout their retirement period.

He saluted the army officers for the patriotism and courage revealed in serving the Nation, the country will always be grateful for the service which has considerably contributed to the stability and peace,’’he added.

Am confident that the required critical skills throughout your military jobs, for instance discipline, leadership and initiative if retained will definitely give you an advantage to be able to succeed in your life, ‘’he noted.

The government is inquiring avenues to provide more skills to the army retirees throughout the retirement to allow them live a reasonable life outside active military duty, according to the minister.

The army retirees were encouraged to be good role models and to continue to safeguard  security of the country in their respective communities even if not in army uniform, according to Nile post.
