Talking about kidnapping, Police are holding a 21-year old woman who kidnapped herself with the aim of extorting money from her boyfriend.

The woman by the name of Mariam Uwase reportedly staged her kidnap as the only way to get money from her lover.

Mariam claims that her boyfriend is mean when it comes to money.

Through Magic Voice Service Uwase tricked her boyfriend by making scary and teary calls on different phone numbers claiming she was kidnapped and he should send Shs 25m or else she would die in the hands of the abductors.

As a concerning and caring boyfriend, he first sent 700000 to show that he was willing to pay the rest. However, he did report to Lugala police about the kidnap of the girlfriend.

After a few days of negotiations with the alleged abductors, Old Kampala Police launched a rescue mission. And they were really in shock when they found out the Uwase was living large and was never kidnapped.

She was arrested and later Uwase confessed that she lacked money for her siblings’ upkeep thus kidnapping herself and asking for ransom.

Mariam is currently incarcerated at Kampala Police station on charges of giving false information.
