2 Foreign Women Arrested With 5Kgs Heroin At Mumbai Airport

Customs Department in Mumbai arrested two foreign women of Sunday possessing around 5kgs of heroin. According to shared information, the drugs cost about Rs 25 core. They hid the drugs in an adjacent seat inside a trolly bag.

During the investigation process, officials came to know that the two women are of Zambian origin. The apparently  reached Mumbai via Doha.

Both the accused were arraigned in court on Monday after authorities registered a case against them. Later, the court sent them to judicial custody for 14 days, the officials informed.

In January 2021, local police also arrested two Ugandans at Indira Gandhi International airport with 9.8kgs of heroin worth shs2 billion.

The two Ugandans told Indian authorities a sister gave them the bags back in Uganda to deliver to someone in India.

According to Indian laws, anyone found trafficking narcotic drugs from outside India faces a minimum of 10 years in prison.

Also, they impose heavy fines on the suspect depending on the amount of contraband seized. Further investigations into the matter are underway.
