2021 Elections; Bobi Wine Resumes Campaigns In Kalangala Island Amidst Heavy Military And Police Deployment

The NUP presidential candidate Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has today resumed his presidential campaigns on the island of Kalangala. Heavy deployment of police and army personnel on the island is underway as they wait for the arrival of the NUP flag bearer.

Kyagulanyi announced on Tuesday that he would be resuming his campaigns after a break to see off his bodyguard Frank Ssenteza who died on Sunday.

Authorities ferried Police paddy wagons into the MV Ssese on Wednesday morning destined for the island of Kalangala. Locals also spotted an army chopper in Kalangala ahead of Kyagulanyi’s arrival for his address to his island supporters.

During his address on Tuesday, Kyagulanyi said he plans to campaign even in the 12 districts where campaigns were suspended by the Electoral Commission. The EC banned campaigns in the districts of Kampala, Mbarara, Kabarole, Luwero, Kasese, Masaka, Jinja, among others. It banned these campaigns from December 26 until further notice.

‘’I will reach my supporters, whether physically, scientifically, or technically,’’ Kyagulanyi vowed.
According to the NUP Secretary-General Louis Rubongoya, their presidential candidate will go ahead to campaign in Kalangala. And on Thursday, Kyagulanyi will be in Bukomansimbi and Mpigi districts.

Newslexpoint.com reported a couple of days ago about multiple accusations that the Uganda People’s Defense Forces ran over Bobi Wine’s bodyguard on Sunday. However, the UPDF denied all of these accusations. They claim that the late fell off a speeding car to his death.

The deceased was Francis Kalibala Ssenteza who was one of Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s bodyguards.

‘’UPDF would like to clarify that they did not knock the late Ssenteza with their military police vehicle as earlier reports indicate. But rather fell off a speeding car registration number UBF 850G.’’ UPDF spokesperson Brig. Flavia Byekwaso said in a statement.
