23 Year Old Commits Suicide After Parents Blocked His Relationship With Old Woman

A man of 23-year-old from Oyam District committed suicide after his parents reportedly opposed his intimacy with a 29-year-old woman because they thought she was too old to get married to their son.

Okello Justine killed himself on Wednesday night using a rope inside his grass thatched house and the dead body was discovered the following morning.

According to the chairman of Myene Sub-County in Oyam District, Mr Omara Peter, Okello had disagreements with his parents ever since he started dating the woman.

When he insisted that he wanted to marry the woman, his parents got angry and decided to chase her away 2 weeks back,’’ said Mr Peter.

Mr Peter said Okello disobeyed his parents and forcefully brought back the woman to his house. The following morning, Okello’s parents locked his house and with a lot of anger told her to leave their son alone.

When Okello realized that his mom and Dad have totally refused the woman of his life, he decided to stay in the house alone where he committed suicide,’’said Mr Omara.

The residents finally blamed the parents who only looked at the age difference forgetting that these two were already in deep love, so they ended up losing their son.
