Access Agriculture To Train Youth Using Videos To Boost Their Entrepreneurial Skills

In a bid to entice Uganda youth to join farming as business, Access Agriculture asocial enterprise is set to train youth using videos to boost their entrepreneurial skills in agriculture.

Access agriculture uses Entrepreneurs for Rural Access as new breed of young change makers in the global South to South exchange of quality training videos to farmers training  into business as catalyst for community development.

“Entrepreneurs for Rural Access is part of network of innovative young people who design sustainable business models around access agriculture training videos. They aim to bring about positive change in the lives of farmers in their communities. Especially women and youth,” Jane Nalunga team facilitator said.

How it benefits farmers;

Access Agriculture is a world leading organisation that focuses on quality agricultural training videos. It trains youth in agriculture in international and local languages across the global.

According to Nalunga, its video learning approach has also enabled youth embrace farming as business resulting into sustainable food systems.

” Our video led learning approach has enabled over 60 million small holder  farmers to learn Agro ecological principles and rural entrepreneurship, leading to improved rural livelihood and sustainable food systems,”Nalunga said.

She also said they are focusing on youth because youth employment is critical concern and priority for government. This is crucial as millions of young people continue to flood the job market every year.

“Many young people are migrating in search of better employment. They don’t see agriculture as a viable source of income. Moreover those willing to enter agriculture need access to new knowledge and skills. These skills are needed to reach markets and adapt to changing world,” Nalunga stressed.

“Access Agriculture also believes that with the support of information and communication technologies  entrepreneurs can provide opportunities for youth and women. They can remain in their communities and take up agriculture as a profitable  business,”she added.
