Comedienne Agnes Akite Opens Up About Sexual Harassment, Vows To Punish Offender

Stand-up comedienne Agnes Akite has come out to open up about sexual harassment. The comedienne said that the incident happened right after she was done performing at Cubana Lounge. What’s more troubling is that she was harassed by a workmate.

Agnes added that when she demanded for an apology, this shameless culprit told her that she was overreacting.

He instead told her to relax as what he had done was nothing. When she demanded an apology, this offender mockingly asked her what she will do.

Agnes Akite also revealed that most culprits of the vice usually get away with it, yet it is common in society. Some people do it because they think that they are above the law while others think women won’t do anything.

“Sexual harassment is something that is very common in our society, and the culprits usually get away with it because they think that they are above the law, women never come out to talk about it because most times there’s no evidence and no one will believe them.”

“Last night at Cubana Lounge after my show, I was a victim and the most annoying bit of is that the culprits is someone I work with. When I told him off, he told me I was overreacting and I should relax…the audacity!!!

I demanded an apology and he asked me ‘What will you do?’

The apology didn’t come, so I’m taking time off to cool down and think with clarity and make consultations with the right people before taking the right step,” she said through her Facebook page.

Sexual harassment is not a new thing in society yet the laws against it are somehow weak. Besides the culprits as Agnes said usually walk away because of bribery or lack of evidence.

In the entertainment industry, it’s a stinking trend. People of influence usually take advantage of the new and upcoming people on the field.
