Bus Headed To Kabale Catches Fire In Mpigi

Earlier this afternoon, a bus caught fire and burned in Mpigi district, on the Kampala-Mbarara highway. The bus that burned was under registration number UAU 926U, belonging to the Gateway Bus Company.

Apparently, the bus was on its way to Kabale in western Uganda at the time of the incident.

According to police, the incident happened at Kampiringisa check point at Kamengo sub-county. However, preliminary reports suggest that the driver had been struggling with the brakes of the vehicle before the fire broke out.

More good news came in as all passengers ere able to safely disembark before the flames engalfed the entire vehicle.

As for social media, images of the burning bus quickly caused panic among Ugandans. This is because the incident happened near the same area where a bomb went off two weeks ago, killing one person.

In similar news earlier reported by NEWSLEXPOINT.com, police counter-terrorism unit and bomb squad personnel recently rushed to Nakasagazi village in Sembabule to retrieve a bomb discovered in a forest.

Apparently, children found the bomb as they were fetching firewood from a nearby forest. While there, they discovered an old rusty projectile that somebody had abandoned for some time.
