The Blessed Assurance Christina Received!

After a long day, I decided to go grab something to eat. The bachelor in me was confused where to go as I always had one place I go every day after working long hours, before i met Christina.

I walked into a restaurant, ordered my favorite dish which was fish and rice, hoping the waitress doesn’t give me something below my expectation. After the first swallow, my brain danced. It tasted really good.

After a short while, the meal was done, I just had like 10 mouthfuls and wanted more but pride wouldn’t just allow me. So I decided to leave it at 10, rested a while, but not for the food to digest, do we really wait for food to digest?

Soon I got up, it was time to go. As I made my way to the door, I saw one of God’s most beautiful works by the names of Christina, she could pass for an angel. She was so beautiful, “like are you sure someone gave birth to her”, she was a MASTERPIECE.

The Church boy in me was like “Mr, better respect yourself and go your way, people are watching you, they will talk, you know how they always do.” I almost obeyed. But then, I would be ungrateful if I don’t appreciate God’s beautiful work.

Let them watch, let them talk. At least they can’t come and take my Eternal Life.

Let them judge, my case has been won and closed already, what else do I have to lose. It’s not like I’m doing anything wrong here.

I made my way straight to where Christina was sitted alone, wondering if the other guys were blind. Perhaps her beauty was intimidating to them. But not to me, a poet and writer like me, is it not to drop one line and her heart will melt. Don’t try me.

“Hello Beautiful, I was wondering why a beautiful woman like you would be sitting all by yourself and you’re not even eating.” I wanted to go on and burst her brain with words, but I realized she didn’t look ready for all that.

Really!!! The village had to follow me here . It was a game changer for me.

“Sorry, are you fine? You don’t seem like it. From afar there was so much brightness but getting close to you now is something totally different.”

Not a word from her, I decided not to leave. So I grabbed a chair and sat down.

“I don’t care if it’s none of my business, but leaving you this way is something I can’t do. You can call the security, I don’t care. Today, we die here.”

Christina smiled just a bit, then went on telling me how depressed she was, how things have really gone bad, mistakes she made, how she’s been rejected and everyone keeps judging her and points fingers at her.

How she’s been alone for a long time, broken and frustrated, no friends due to how badly they’ve hurt her. And Christina comes here most times to just sit till it’s time for them to close for the day.

I was beginning to wonder how Christina opened up to me so fast, it was surprising but it didn’t really matter to me. Something had to be done.

I wanted to go all motivational on her, but screw that. I’ve got a better message and that message best fits this situation and I’ll leave with regrets if I fail to share that message.

So I asked,

“Do you know Jesus?” Christina said yes but then she wasn’t a believer but goes to church, serves and does every other thing that needs to be done.

“Alright, no problem.” I replied.

I took out time to share the word with her, and at the end Christina believed in Him, and received the free gift He has already offered. I was finally done, it was time to go.

I didn’t want to ask for her number so it wouldn’t seem like this was my plan from the beginning, but who cares?. Christina was beautiful, she was a fresh Believer, she would need help to grow. How then would I let her go?

I asked for her number and she gave it to me, and said she hasn’t done that in a very long time. ” Why?” I asked. She said because unlike me others just want something from her, but I am different. And Christina was glad she met me.

Oh Boy!!!! I wanted to dance round, but I heard a voice. “Don’t allow your village people use you like this, better respect yourself”. I smiled and wanted to do more. But I had to be calm.

I gave her my number also as I left, I could see this sudden joy and peace in her already.

3 days later I went to the same restaurant, hoping to find her there but she wasn’t there. I asked the guys working there and they said since the day I talked to her, she had not come back.

Ahh!! What did I do? I remembered I had her number, I had been so caught up with work that I forgot to call her.

I picked my phone and called, her voice alone sent right signals through my body.

“Hey, you’ve not been coming around here for a while, hope you’re good.” I said.

“Yes, I am. I’ve been spending more time with God now, since He’s all I have. I’ve been praying and studying, it’s been so wonderful, I have so much joy and peace. I’ve never felt this way in my entire life. It’s just so amazing. Thank you so much Wee wee.” She replied.

I wanted to cry but I had to be a man. We fixed a date and when we met we talked about her new experience and I was so glad to hear all Christina shared with me.

Every time it was time to pray I never failed to pray for her. We got to know each other more, sometimes we would be together and someone from her past would see her and be blown away. Christina was beautiful, yes. But there was more to her now. She had Jesus, and that was the difference.

When you have Jesus, you have everything. I suddenly realised how other guys were now coming around.

Eh!!! Where were they when I was making investments, now they want to reap where they did not sow. As a sharp guy, I made my move.

Two years later, we were about to leave the house to church for mid-week service. And I asked

“Honey, I’ve been wondering before I proposed to you and you said yes, I didn’t give you any sort of assurance, yet you chose to spend the rest of your life with me.

I don’t get it, how?”

She smiled and said,

“Oh!! You did dear. You gave me the greatest assurance ever and it was a Blessed Assurance. You gave me Jesus.

The gifts, the shoes, the clothes, the ring, They’ll all be gone, but Jesus remains forever. And even when I’m gone, He remains with me. And He matters most, so that’s the best gift ever.”

You should have seen my face, it was like that of a puppy. I’m always full of words, but this time I was speechless.

“Thank you for choosing to spend the rest of your life with me.” I said as I handed her a bible.

Even when I had nothing, Christina knew I had everything and that was JESUS.

The assurance was not hers alone, it was ours. It was a BLESSED ASSURANCE.
