Hans Gaarder, 60, happened to have tested positive for Covid-19. He died from the virus on April 6; just days after he hosted an illegal gathering in Gran Municipality. The municipal chief physician, Are Løken said the preliminary autopsy report that the man died of the deadly virus.
Reports from local news agencies in the area reported that at least 12 people got the virus after attending the illegal gatherings.
On March 16, Authorities banned all events in the Municipality in a bid to drive down the cases of the disease. Since the breakout in Norway in 2020, 688 people had so far died from Covid-19. As of now, the police are also trying to learn how many people were in the two events at Gaarder’s barn on March 26 and 27.
In a statement on the website of Gran Municipality, a spokesperson confirmed that the covid denier was in his 60’.
‘’Gran municipality has become aware that two events were held, Friday 26 and Saturday 27 March, on the man’s property. We do not know how many and who have participated in the event. But ask the participants to take a corona test as soon as possible,’’ the statement said in part.
Gaarder was a prominent conspiracy theorist. He also regularly promoted views that Covid-19 was a simple cold. In the past, he has also shared posts about the Illuminati. In November 2020, he claimed on Facebook, that the US president, Joe Biden stole the election.
