Don’t Reappoint Ministers Who lost Elections, Experts Warn Museveni

Experts Warn Museveni to desist from reappointing Ministers who lost the 2021 elections. Museveni’s cabinet is now the thing on every one’s mouth. This so because most of his ministers lost the elections to their counterparts.

On this note, experts have advised Museveni that just in case, their aim is to fulfill the NRM manifesto, then he should leave work with a new cabinet.

Former East African Legislative Assembly legislator, Yona Kanyomozi says Museveni should be careful how he deploys people voters rejected.

“I am not saying they shouldn’t be brought back, they can be, but with caution so that you don’t step on the feet of the thinking of these people. They have thrown them out, now why did they throw them out? You need to answer that.”

Nicholas Opiyo, a famous lawyer in town says competence is the least requirement in this government. He thinks this should change and now.

“History has shown that president Museveni pays little attention to competence while appointing ministers, he focuses on other considerations such as tribal ethnic, religious etc.”

“When we look at agreements this country is signing, ministers go and negotiate loans and other agreements without technical expertise and what you are beginning to see within ministry are intent fights between technocrats and ministers because technocrats see ministers are inept.”

Almost 20 ministers lost the elections in January 2021. Some people have been anticipating that probably Museveni will bring them back in his cabinet.

We are yet to see how this will go because it is also very crucial in the government and how it works.
