Ministry Of Education Drops More Than 30,000 Unqualified Teachers From Payroll

The Education Ministry in Uganda has dropped more than 30,000 unqualified teachers in the ongoing confirmation and registration activity.

According to the Education Ministry, some teachers came with fake appointment letters and academic transcripts.

The Commissioner in charge of Teacher Education and instruction, Dr Egau Okou Jane said all teachers with forged documents are not accepted to teach in any school whatsoever.

By using our teacher management system, it’s helping us to fish out many unqualified teachers. So far more than 30,000 affected teachers across the country have been disqualified. We hope that every teacher would have been registered by December this year. When we are done with that, we shall then get to know the number of qualified teacher on our system. We have a big number of qualified teachers out there who are not privileged to access the payroll.

It has taken us several years to fish out teachers with fake documents because most of them are teaching in primary schools and hired by District Service Commissions, ‘said Dr Jane.
