My Father Died Of Blood Cancer, It Was A Painful Moment!

Am by the names of Patricia, a graduate of Makerere University in Uganda. I was born in a family of 4 children, three boys and I was the only girl. For a very long time my parents were not in good terms and therefore ended up separating when we were still very young. My mother left and took my young brother with her,  I and the rest of my siblings came to Kampala with our father, and by then on, Mbarara was our place of residence. We joined school in Kampala and our dad got a job offer in one of the secondary schools as teacher.

When I reached my O-level, we joined his school, but suddenly my dad started falling sick and he could get admitted most of the times. when he went for diagnosis, the doctors found out that he had blood cancer, by then my elder brother had joined University and was doing a part time job. I was in a school choir, so whenever we would go for practice, he was the first to be prayed for as choir members but his situation just worsened.

The school took up the responsibility to support him in anyway they could, but for a period of time till he finally died. It was one Sunday morning when the news was all over the school that my father had passed on, I didn’t know until I went to sleep on one of my friends bed in the school dormitory and I heard a student say Patricia’s father died yesterday night, so there might be no mass, I was in boarding section so it was hard for me to know what had happened untill our teachers came with news at school. I was so broken, started crying and all students gathered around me for consolation, but it was hard for me at that time.

That very day, the casket with my fathers body was brought to the school for students and staff to say bye bye to him, then later we left for Mbarara for his burial. That moment was full of wails only, we were In deep sorrow and pain, you know how painful losing a family member is! I had a lot on my mind by then, I was already missing my dad , who will takecare of us? Who will pay our school fees?
