First 50 Tricycle Ambulances Flagged Off By PM Nabbanja

Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda on Tuesday, March 21st flagged off 50 tricycle ambulances.

These were donated by Rotary International and are intended to extend ambulance services in villages and remote areas.

The Prime Minister represented the President, HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the function. The function took place at Commonwealth Resort Hotel Munyonyo.

She commended Rotarians for their voluntary services to those who are less fortunate in various ways.

As for the president, he also supported the idea of a well-facilitated tricycle ambulance system in every village. Apparently, the 50 tricycle ambulances will help in the timely referral of Mothers and newborns in distant places.

It should be noted that this project is targeted towards Wakiso, Kabarole and Kabaale. It will also be rolled out to the rest of the country depending on the availability of resources.

These tricycles will also be registered under the ministry of health and will be available at Health Center IIIs. This is because it’s at these Health Center IIIs that most maternal mortality cases are reported.

The hope, therefore, is that this project will make a difference in dealing with such issues.
