Gov’t To Shut Down illegal Orphanages

The Ministry Of Gender, Labor and social development has been a given two weeks to crack down all unauthorized orphanages within the whole country.

Government’s decision has come after proving that some adoption homes are a threat to young children’s lives.

However, Nakiwala Kiyingi the state minister for youth and children’s affair promised that the affected children in the closure will be placed in the already approved legal orphanages in Kampala.

According to the minister, they’re only 36 legalized orphanages within the city.

Nakiwala further explained as to why the government has come up with such ideology of closing illegal orphanages.

She said that the idea came up due to the continuous increase of street children and also the increased number of parents disowning their children.
