Human Trafficking On Increase

Uganda is still grappling with increasing human trafficking that has come as a result of unemployment. The common method of Trafficking in Uganda is Labor and sexual exploitation according to experts during the Regional Training for Kenya and Uganda aimed at combating trade of Humans and smuggling of Migrants at Imperial Resort in Entebbe.

According to Agnes Igoye the Deputy chair of National Prevention of Trafficking in Persons says although Uganda has the prevention of human trafficking person’s act which says trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, and harboring persons using threat and taking the advantage of their vulnerability the scam is on the increase.

“Human trafficking is the abuse of human right and in Uganda there is sexual exploitation, trafficking for forced labor, removal of organs for ritual and others which is threat.” Igoye said.

Human trafficking is still a very big challenge, women are mainly targeted due to increasing an employment which has forced (IGAD) the seven member states to have a regional training between Uganda and Kenya aimed at combating this challenge.

The Head of Public Diplomacy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Alfred Nnam says Uganda has been on the forefront of the promotion of external Labor export due to unemployment but some criminals elements entered into the system.

“In Uganda, there companies that do the recruitment and licensed by the ministry of labor and social development but many Ugandans abroad are miss treated,” he said.

However, according to Moses Binoga the former coordinator Uganda human account human trafficking task force said that the ministry is in negotiations with reception countries to sign agreements that streamline the exportation and treatment of Ugandan nationals when they arrive in their countries.

Factors that attract Human trafficking 

There many factors in country that have led to increasing human trafficking including un employment and the use internet that actually failing the country to dealt this with.

In Uganda some districts which are highly affected with Human Traff1cking include Karamoja, Kampala, Mukono, Wakiso, Jinja, Iganga and Mbale.

This is an international training workshop involving Kenya and Uganda as well as members from the media and the civil society organizations that will last for four days.
