I Had To Adapt To Change – Nobert Mao On Swapping The Opposition For The NRM

It’s no longer news that DP president Nobert Mao traded the Opposition for the ruling NRM government. This even saw him land one of the juiciest jobs in the country, Minister of Justice, a role that he’s already taken to accomplishing.

However, most people up to now are still wondering what prompted Mao, a strong government critic to swap positions. He’s now revealed that he had to adapt to change.

Quoting the father of the evolution theory, Charles Darwin, Mao said that it’s neither the strong nor most intelligent that survive, it’s rather those that adapt well to change.

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change,” said Mao.

Mao decided to switch allegiance

It seems like Mao studied the Opposition and observed that they are stagnant, clueless, and have no direction. With such a conclusion, he decided to switch allegiance.

Mao has already kicked off operations and it seems the Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana case is his priority. Shortly after assuming office, he was visited by MP Ssegirinya’s mother.

He was also visited by Ms Mariam Wangadya the Uganda Human Rights Commissioner. Mao assured her that the right to a fair trial is paramount.

Partnering with the National Resistance Movement however, has not made Mao submit to it. His party has fronted a candidate in the ongoing Busongora County South By-election.

While campaigning for the DP candidate Benadet Businge, Mao asked the people of the area not to trust NRM’s Gideon Thembo Mujungu with their votes.
