Kabale District Council Approves Ugx 204M To Accelerate Vaccination Campaign

As of today, the Kabale District Council has approved supplementary budget estimates of Ugx 204,240,000. The funds are meant to support the district to carry out accelerated COVID-19 vaccination.

The district secretary for works and health, Bridget Asinga spearheaded the push of the motion.

The district woman councilor representing Kamuganguzi sub-county, Peace Rutarimara also seconded her to push the motion.

The funds will come from the Ministry of Finance, planning and economic development. According to Asinga, these funds will help facilitate vaccination teams, planning and coordination, monitoring and evaluation, among other things.

The councilor representing Ryakarimira sub-county, March Boaz, said people have resorted to buying vaccination cards at Ugx 30,000.

This forced the district speaker, Flavia Kanagizi to urge councilors to be exemplary and mobilize the public for vaccination.

Also, the Kabale District Council chairperson Nelson Nshangabasheija urged technocrats to cooperate with the political wing to ensure vaccination.

In similar news earlier reported by NEWSLEXPOINT.com, different bodies, both government and private came together to hold the first-ever mass COVID-19 vaccination event.

The companies include Uganda Breweries Limited partnering with Coca-Cola, Ministry of Health, KCCA, and NICE Uganda. They held the event at Kololo Airstrip on Saturday, October 16, 2021. This happened between 9 am and 5 pm.
