Uganda Makes The First Electric “Kayoola” Bus In East Africa

In technology, we used to see electric buses in movies, but in this generation, Uganda has managed to get the first Kayoola electric buses made within the country and are going to be launched  next year in March, they are manufactured by Kiira Motors Corporation.

Many Ugandans are so excited for these electric “Kayoola” Buses, and they’re expected to go on road test using the Kampala-Entebbe and Kampala-Mukono routes to ensure there capability.

Kayoola Electric Buses made in Uganda to be unveiled next year

The Executive Chairman of Kiira Motors, Professor Sandy Stevens Tickodri mentioned that conclusion line of these Kayoola electric buses is still taking place in Luwero industries limited, and after finishing the first 3, they will be set on roads in early March next year.

“We found out that Luwero industries limited has the capacity to enable us to develop the electric vehicles we have been talking about “the Kayoola”, we do not need to wait for the Jinja site. So, between now and March next year hopefully, we shall bring out probably three buses on the streets and we shall put them on Kampala-Entebbe and Kampala-Mukono roads to reduce the traffic jams on these routes,” Prof Tickodri claimed.
