MP Joel Ssenyonyi Reveals Why NUP Is Silent About Nobert Mao’s Attacks

NUP spokesperson and Nakawa West MP Hon Joel Ssenyonyi has come out to reveal why the National Unity Platform has kept quiet about DP president, Nobert Mao’s attacks.

Apparently, the DP president has been launching scathing attacks against the Kamwokya-based party. Mao accused the party of hypocrisy and corruption. He also branded it a party formed by the government mafias and NRM.

Further, Mao said that he will expose the party, its leaders, and other fake opposition figures who are derailing the struggle. This has however brought widespread criticism to the DP leader.

A number of people have been wondering why NUP hasn’t come out directly to address these allegations.

While appearing on NBS TV’S Frontline program, Joel Ssenyonyi said that Mao has had more tweets than the votes he had during the elections he stood for president.

Ssenyonyi also added that Mao might be doing all this to please the first son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Muhoozi a few weeks ago complimented Mao as the best opposition politician who has presidential qualities. Therefore it’s for this reason that NUP and Ssenyonyi have restrained from addressing Mao.

NUP and its leader Bobi Wine however came out to address the issue of getting money from the government.

This was after Mao said that it’s hypocritical for NUP to shun IPOD meetings yet it gets money from there. NUP however said that it’s compulsory money under the law meant to be given to political parties.

On the same show, FDC spokesperson, Hon Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda said that NUP has a social media army. This is meant to insult those who differ from the party, a thing that the Kiira Municipality MP condemns.
