MTN Will Be Punished If It Breached Operational Guidelines – UCC

Uganda’s leading telecommunications Network, MTN will be punished if found guilty of violating operational guidelines, according to government regulatory body of communications sector in Uganda, the UCC.

During the stakeholders conference for East African Communications Organisation on Monday, the director for Uganda Communications Commission, Mr Mutabazi Godfrey said them with the security agencies have launched an investigation to find out whether MTN violated operational guidelines.

There will definitely be disciplinary action if found guilty,’’he said.

A few days a go, the government deported four MTN executives including the company CEO, Mr Wim Vanhelleputte over allegations of infiltration.

The telecommunications company hasn’t commented about the ongoing investigations. According to the UCC Act 2013, the commission is authorized to suspend or cancel a licence of an operator if found guilty, according to Daily Monitor.
