Museveni Is More Concerned About Karamoja Cattle Than Karamojong Street Kids – Charles Rwomushana

Political analyst and former ISO operative, Charles Rwomushana, has claimed that President Museveni is more interested in the Karamojong cattle than Karimojong street children.

This was in relation to Museveni’s recent visit to the Acholi, Lango and Karamoja subregions. Museveni’s visit was purposefully to find solutions to the rampant cattle rustling that has created insecurity in the areas.

“The President was in Karamoja. He is more concerned about the Karamajong cattle than the Karamajong kids on the streets. This parliament can’t sit to come up with a solution for these kids?”

President Museveni in his recent visit to the areas met with different political, security, and religious leaders. Among the propositions by the President, giving goats (16) and iron sheets (28) to the youths to start up lives out of rustling kicked off.

They will give these to those who opt out of cattle rustling which is thought to be normal in these regions.

Street kids on major town roads, especially in Kampala, are one of the problems that government has to deal with. Many of these are have fled from the north.

This is due to a number of problems there such as insecurity, poverty, and domestic violence among others.

Attempts to resettle and rehabilitate them have proved futile as the problem keep recurring. This is partly due to poor planning, corruption, and lack of concentrated efforts on the overall programs among others.

Rwomushana also criticized MPs for failure to debate how to increase foreign revenue. All they are concerned about is consumption.

“We should see MPs talking about how we can increase our foreign revenue. They are instead bothered about consumption. I didn’t get, I didn’t get.”

Further Rwomushana said that the country should think about import substitution because the country imports more than what it exports.
