I Will Import Food If Local Suppliers Continue To Become Selfish – President Museveni

The President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday while holding a Nation address at around 8:10pm emphasized a number of issues that reportedly went astray from what was discussed upon initially.

While emphasizing crucial points towards local food suppliers, Museveni threatened to import food, especially beans and posho if at all farmers fail to abide by the rules or withhold it aiming to hike the price.

However, the president mentioned that he gets a lot of information that some business people are limiting to sell food and others sell it at a higher price. He therefore revealed that he will buy food from Mexico and other countries if local suppliers fail to comply.

“I heard that there are some suppliers that are trying to keep the beans so that the prices can go up. I really don’t like selfish people, if I hear that there is not enough maize or beans because people are withholding it from the market, they are hoarding it, then I will import. I will just get a whisper that the food is not enough, I will just import and forget about you, because you are crooks trying to take advantage of your people” he threatened.
