Nigerian man sentenced to life prison for drug trafficking in Indonesia

The Indonesian court sentenced a 33- year – old Nigerian known as Uzoma Elele Alpha to life prisonment for having banned substances like Marijuana in Indonesia that was worth $451400.

Elele was arrested at his house at Margonda residence tower in Depok in December 2014 during a raid by authorities from the immigration office in Indonesia.

The Nigerian was found to be living in the country illegally.

And the banned substances were found in his domicile after search was done.

“Uzoma was found guilty for owning grade one narcotic drugs & sentenced to life imprisonment,” Judge Hariyanto said in his ruling at the court on the southern outskirts of Jakarta.

Eddy Abdul Aziz the chief prosecutor said that his team would consider mounting an appeal to get the death sentence for Uzoma.

Indonesia has strong rules against drug trafficking in their country and Uzoma is the fourth Nigeria n executed for drug trafficking.
