Speaker Oulanyah Is Unwell, Among Asks Parliament To Pray For Him

Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among has asked legislators to pray for Oulanyah because he is unwell. For so long, details about the speaker’s health have been kept from the public up until now.

The Medical Experts at Mulago in consultation with his personal doctors, decided to refer him for further specialised medical attention out of the country.

The Deputy Speaker, Anita Among said yesterday that Oulanyah is receiving specialized treatment outside the country.

The Speaker left the country for treatment on Friday, 04 February 2022. Oulanyah has been unwell for the last two weeks and was receiving treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital.

“During the period he was receiving medical attention at Mulago Hospital, medical experts in consultation with his personal doctors agreed to take him out of Mulago to a specialised hospital,” she said.

She told the MPs to disregard social media comments on the speaker’s health. Anita confirmed that she spoke to Oulanyah and he is getting better but he needs prayers.

“I spoke to Rt Hon. Jacob Oulanyah before I came to the House today and he is in good moods. He told me to tell the Members that he loves them,” Among said.

Thomas Tayebwa, the government chief whip prayed for a quick recovery for the speaker and encouraged legislators to work together.

“We pray for the recovery of the Speaker. He told us last time that it has to be ‘we’ and the moment we work as ‘we’ in this House, then we will ensure that work goes on in case one of us is indisposed,” Tayebwa said.
