Police Fire Cop Who Leaked Dollo CCTV Footage

Police authorities have fired an officer who licked the CCTV footage of Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo in which he went to see President Museveni. Apparently, this was during the election petition in which Bobi Wine was challenging Museveni’s election win.

Following the effects of the 2021 general elections, NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi filed an election petition.

It challenged the victory of the NRM party chairman Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who had been declared by the Electoral Commission chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama as the victor.

NUP and its legal team however later resolved to withdraw the case citing the impartiality of the jury. Kyagulanyi argued that Dollo happened to be Museveni’s lawyer in the past.

Therefore, Kuagulanyi’s lawyers said that since Museveni and Dollo have an understanding, it would be impossible for NUP to win this case. What is worse is that Museveni is the one who appoints whoever is to take in the office of the Chief Justice.

Apparently, a police officer in the CCTV surveillance leaked footage showing vehicles of the Chief Justice approaching statehouse.

The force subsequently launched an investigation into the matter. However, the police disciplinary committee has agreed to relieve the unnamed police officer of his duties.

They fired him on grounds of allegedly breaching the rules that guide the police code of conduct on VIP treatment.
