Deputy IGP Mbugua G. Edward noted that during the recent tour of several police stations across the country, police officers in different ranks have gone against National Police Service dress code whilst in police uniforms

According to internal memo sent to formation commanders and regional police, the deputy IGP said he also noticed a weird behavior whereby Muslim police officers changed the head dress contrary to what was discussed earlier on.

National police services had authorized female police women to put on black headscarf, but Mr Edward said they had gone against it by changing to coloured ones.

I noticed with shock, magnification of hairdos and plaiting over-coloured hairstyles. With effect from 1st January 2020, the said over-coloured hairstyles won’t be allowed, ‘said police boss.

It is very important to acknowledge that the uniform deserves to be respected,’he added.
