Political Campaigns Kick Off Today Ahead Of 2021 Elections

Political campaigns officially kick off today ahead of the general elections in 2021. These campaigns are going to go on for 60 days. Unlike other campaigns, these are very tricky and complicated due to the health measures put in place to cub Covid 19.

The electoral commission put in place a lot of restrictions that perhaps are so disturbing.

Candidates are expected to host people less than 70 in number to ensure social distance. They didn’t specify whether even in big halls, the number 70 stands. Obviously this was greatly opposed by especially the opposition who says EC is taking advantage of this period to oppress them.

However, the silence in the EC camp about this matter simply means it was sealed and stamped.

Some political candidates have decided to go for door to door type of campaigns which they say perhaps be more effective. To them, this gets more personal and interactive but the challenges with this are so many.

Candidates are pron to exploitation from the people who may ask for many in exchange for support. Also the limited time they have can’t support this type of campaigning.

The most effective means of campaigning may be using the media because at least most people have radios and televisions. People may be afraid of going for physical campaigns due to the fear of contracting covid.

Either way though, all eyes on 2021 because there is no going back now.
