Public Puts NBS Journalists On The Spot, Stop Rushing To Break News

The Public has put NBS journalists on the spot for rushing to break news. The public says the urge of NBS to always be the first to break news has become a bad obsession.

This came as a result of two NBS journalists publishing contradicting stories about the same issue at the same time. Not only was this misleading but it was demeaning to the journalism fraternity.

“Again, journalism needs to stop being speculative. The urge to break news ‘rumors’ that will inevitably break clearly, is what baffles me @CanaryMugume, I think ‘journalists’ without credible sources on an issue can work on that and not make up for it in hearsay story breaking,” Jacob Eyeru, the Chairman National Youth Council said.

This came after two NBS journalists, Daniel Lutaaya and Canary Mugume tweeted contradicting information about the Speakership race.

Daniel Lutaaya reported earlier that NRM CEC had endorsed Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth. On the other hand, Canary Mugume tweeted showing NRM had endorsed Hon. Anita Among.

Unfortunately, these tweets went viral causing a lot of confusion on social media. At last though, Daniel Lutaaya apologized for publishing wrong information.

He put it on getting information in bits but the public didn’t take this lightly. The public advised Journalists to do their work as they should because people rely on information from them.
