Sudhir Ruparelia Advises Landlords In Kampala To Standardize SOPs

Business Mogul, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia has advised landlords in Kampala City to adapt to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) implemented by government and asked the tenants to adhere to them.

Sudhir was speaking during the meeting with Kampala City landlords had with the trade Minister and members of the covid-19 task force to forge on how to allow Arcades to reopen in the face of an earlier forceful reopening by angry traders.

Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia said forty eight (48) of his Seventy seven (77) properties had been cleared to be reopened but they’re working so hard to clear all of them.

The Ugandan government maintained lockdown restrictions on arcades because it’s not easy to limit the spread of coronavirus due to many people flooding the place. The president said it’s impossible to enforce social distancing guidelines in arcades whose shopping rooms are sub-rented.

According to Kampala minister Amongi Betty, government officials who inspected the arcades finally approved 48 arcades in Kampala which complied with the guidelines for standard operating procedures. The include Arua park annex, Modern complex, Magoba shopping, Mukwano arcade, Sekaziga House etc.

Minister of trade Amelia Kyambadde confirmed that all arcades that have been cleared will reopen by Friday this week after presenting the list to president Museveni.
