Teacher In Koboko Collapses And Dies In Staffroom

A teacher in Koboko District at Ombachi Self-help Primary school has left colleagues in shock after he collapsed and died in his chair.

This happened in the staffroom as Mr. Charles Lema who is said to have been in his early 60s prepared lessons for his students.

Mr. Lema, a father of 13, has been a primary six and primary seven Social Studies teacher at the school. His teaching career began in Koboko district at Anyakalio primary school where he got a promotion to deputy headteacher. He then retired from the post in 2019.

A little later, he got another job contract as a private teacher at Ombachi Self-help primary school.

‘’Teachers called me to the school yesterday afternoon saying there was an emergency that needed my attention. On arrival, I found Lema on his chair dead and some papers and pen before him. He was organizing lessons for the learners when he collapsed on the chair and died,’’ the headteacher of the school said.

Mr. Augustin Taban, the headteacher, said that Lema had never complained or reported to him of any illness before. However, medical reports have suggested that he died of a cardiac arrest.

In a description of the deceased from Mr. Taban, Lama was a passionate and hardworking teacher.
