This Is What Killed Al Hajji Nasser Ssebagala

Al Hajji Nasser Ssebagala also known as Seya had been admitted to International Hospital Kampala (IHK) days ago with stomach complications. Preliminary results later showed that he had Intussusception.

Intussusception is a medical condition where one segment of intestine “telescopes” inside of another, causing an intestinal obstruction (blockage). This condition can occur anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract. But, it usually occurs at the junction of the small and large intestines. This complication is very common in infants.

The main symptom of this complication is severe, crampy abdominal pain alternating with periods of no pain. Painful episodes may last 10 to 15 minutes or longer. Followed by periods of 20 to 30 minutes of no pain, after which the pain returns. After symptoms have been present for a while, some children may become lethargic (feel very tired). Small children may draw their knees up to their chest during the episodes of pain.

Ssebagala had earlier reported having stomach pains. This prompted his family to take him for a medical check-up at International Hospital Kampala(IHK). His condition deteriorated suddenly and he was pronounced dead early this morning. His younger brother Latif Ssebagala is the current Kawempe North Member of Parliament.

Ssebagala’s 2021 Dream

Before his death, Nasser Ssebagala had expressed interest in contesting for Kampala Lord Mayoral seat in the 2021 general election.

While at the Kamwokya based People Power secretariat earlier this year, Sebaggala told journalists that he had great trust in the leader of the People Power pressure group. He claimed to have groomed and trained Bobi Wine in politics.

The seasoned politician came to the limelight in the late 90s’ when he won the race for the mayor of Kampala. This was after beating Wasswa Biriggwa and incumbent Christopher Yiga. However, he did not complete his term of office after his arrest in the United States of America.

They leveled charges of making false statements, bank fraud, and transporting altered securities against him.
