Thugs Break Into Moving Truck, Steal Goods Worth Shs20 Million In Arua

Arua police are hunting for a group of thugs who broke into a moving cargo truck belonging to California Bus Services. The thugs are believed to have made off with goods worth over shs 20 million.

The thugs apparently timed the Fuso truck, reg number UAJ 797M while at Enzeva climbing lane in Arivu sub-county.

The truck had been on its delivery journey of goods from Arua to Kampala when the incident happened.

Preliminary reports from police findings say the driver of the truck, Mohamed Zuli was alone when the thugs climbed into the vehicle.

They began to drop assorted merchandise belonging to traders in Arua at Kuluva, Odianyadri, and Euata trading centers. From there, the friends of the thugs standing by the roadside picked up the loot.

The West Nile Region police spokesperson, Josephine Angucia says that they entered a case of theft of merchandise. She also revealed that they gunned down two suspects two months ago for pulling similar stunts.

In other discoveries, Dr. Alex Alidria, who happened to be on his way to Arua picked up some of the merchandise and delivered it to Arua CPS.

The police has now renewed its community policing drive to sensitize locals about the new wave of theft.

The military also got involved saying it intends to establish a military detach in Enzeva area. This area is also partly occupied by NFA. It intends to do this by the end of this year.
