Ugandan Woman Narrates Horrifying Ordeal While In Tanzania For A Tour

A Ugandan woman by the names of Louise Lindsey Kukunda has also come out to narrate how her trip to Tanzania became the most traumatizing thing that has ever happened to her.

She said it is the most unsafe space she has ever visited. Her story comes after a Nigerian woman narrated her near-rape ordeal in Zanzibar-Tanzania.

“I went to Tanzania as a #tourist. Depending on where you are, I would call it a very #unsafe place, especially for solo travelers. There are rules I wasn’t aware of which turned my ‘holiday’ into a nightmare. I was attacked by a mob on my first day. Fists flew, blows pounded on my body and head for ‘indecent’ dressing. It was when one woman lifted my dress and started to pull down my underwear…”

The Ugandan woman narrates it was a man that saved her from the mob but even as she was being driven off, someone reached out through the window to strangle her.

Fortunately, she was strong enough to fight him off and was whisked off to a hotel. Later on, though, some people came to apologize for what had happened to her.

For the rest of her trip, Lindsey says she was in clothes that covered her up entirely because apparently she was beaten for indecent dressing.

“I spent a week in sweltering heat wrapped in sweaters, jeans, anything to hide any part of my body that would invite violence. Where I was, beaches are not for bikinis, please. Keep ALL your clothes on.”

She encouraged people to always make research about a place before visiting it to avoid such incidents that could end up being fatal.

“I’m not the first Ugandan this has happened to so it’s not a one-off. Do your research about the area you’re visiting and always have a man with you.”

Another lady joined in the story confirming it’s true based on what happened to her as well.

“I empathize with you. I also had a similar experience… fortunately I was with a group of women who covered me up and defended me. Luckily Kenyan badass @Shikoohz spoke & upon realizing I could potentially be a ‘foreigner’ calmed down. Are Tanzanian women safe there?!” a one Kobusingye.
