Uganda’s Covid 19 e-Vaccination Certificates Finally Approved By UK

The United Kingdom has approved Uganda’s e- vaccination certificates. This will take effect on 1st November as informed by UK Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps.

“We can confirm that from Monday, eligible travelers from over 30 new countries and territories, including Peru and Uganda will be added to our inbound vax policy. This brings the total number of countries on this list to over 135,” Shapps said in a tweet.

Uganda was part of the 29 other countries and territories that saw their vaccination certificates finally recognized by the UK. People from countries with recognized vaccine certificates are at a great advantage.

They require them to only take a rapid antigen test on arrival, and if negative, they will allow them to continue to their destinations in the United Kingdom.

Kate Airey, the UK High Commissioner to Uganda, also confirmed Shapps message to Uganda. She termed this as good news to Uganda.

“Good news for fully vaccinated Ugandans wishing to travel to the UK. The UK has now added Ugandan vaccine certificates to the UK COVID-19 entry system from next week,” Airey said in a tweet.

Early this month, the UK removed Uganda from its red list. However, the country’s vaccine e-certificates remained unrecognized by the UK.

Travelers from Uganda still had to quarantine on arrival to the UK. This is not going to be the case though starting Monday.
