“We Need Actions More Than Words”, – Ugandan Netballer Tells First Lady Janet Museveni

Ugandan Netballer Cholhok Mary Nuba has told the Ugandan first lady Janet Kataha Museveni that as players, they need more actions and less words.

This followed Ms Museveni’s congratulatory message to the She-Cranes following their stellar performance in the Fast Five Series in New Zealand.

The first lady added that the girls efforts has surely not gone unnoticed. She then proceeded to dub them ‘Babandana’ a popular new song by Grenade Official.

“I’d like to applaud Uganda’s national netball team @SheCranes1 for putting up a stellar perNetballer Tells Janet Museveni; “We Need More Than Wordsformance in the Fast Five World Series in New Zealand! Your hard work and dedication has surely not gone unnoticed. Well done, #Babandana!,” the first lady said.

However not everyone on the team was impressed by her message. Nuba who plays for Loughborough Lightning in the British Netball Super-league said that they need less words at this point.

More action is needed especially in reimbursing their payments which are long overdue.

She added that the girls on the team are struggling to provide for their families. Therefore, they need to be paid for their endless efforts towards the country.

“Thanks for your kind words Mama Janet, however, we need more than words at this point. These girls are struggling to provide for their families. We need to be paid for our endless efforts for the country.”

The girls were a fan favorite in this tournament especially after they stunned and beat the world’s best netballing country, Australia.

Poor financial facilitation is a factor that has hindered sport development in the country. Despite the government’s continued pledge to invest in the sector, little has been done. And even when done, it has mainly benefited a few sport disciplines such as football.

The programs available also focus a lot on rewarding individual brilliance rather than collectively.
