Meanwhile, Japan has extended her state of emergency due to the growing calls for the cancellation of Olympics. Olympics set for this year have received a lot of opposition from people. It has even attracted 350,000 signatures calling for its cancelation. Currently, the virus has caused a state of emergency in three regions of the country. Namely; Hiroshima, Okayama and northern Hokkaido.

Even the athletes themselves have encouraged the cancelation of the Olympics if need be. Swiss tennis great Roger Federer said they need an affirmation on whether the Olympics are happening or not.

“I would love to play in the Olympics… But if that doesn’t happen due to the situation, I would be the first to understand.”
