Boda boda Rider Stabbed To Death At Checkpoint In Luweero

A Boda Boda rider in Luwero district has been stabbed to death with a bayonet at a police checkpoint. The police alleged that the man had refused to stop at the checkpoint which lead the police to use other means to stop him.

The victim, Kassim Luyinda who rode his motorcycle REG. number UFH 186G met his fate at a checkpoint in Kiziri village.

The parish councilor of Nakigoza, Paul Ssinabulya said Luyinda had just returned from Wakiso to deliver cargo for a client. On his return journey is when police stopped him to probably question him about his movements.

Luyinda attempted to proceed to Luwero at around 10 am before an officer stabbed him with a bayonet.

Authorities then rushed Luyinda to Bugema Health Centre with severe injuries. However, upon their arrival at the health centre, the doctors immediately pronounced him dead.

The Savannah Regional police spokesperson, Isah Ssemwogerere said he did not have details about the said incident.

He, however, made reference to a similar incident where a Boda Boda rider declined to stop and fell on a tire cutter mounted in the road.

Furthermore, he said the body of the deceased is currently at the Bugema Health Centre as investigations proceed.

The police insisted that they will transfer the body to Luwero hospital for postmortem before it can giving it back to the family.
