He said Bobi Wine wants his fellow artists to earn from their art like other musicians do in other countries.
However, the misappropriation, misallocation, and misuse of funds by the government through the Musicians Federation and Association frustrates him so much.
Mr. Wine became a politician while he was singing. However, in his parliamentary term, he didn’t speak for musicians as much on the floor of parliament. He started talking about the problems in the entertainment industry after he left parliament.
Ugandans have been questioning his statement about the music industry as he didn’t present them in parliament when he had an opportunity to do so.
According to Dr Hilderman, some Ugandans think that Bobi Wine doesn’t want the government to invest in the industry.
He said that is not true. Apparently, the only problem Mr. Wine is looking at is that government doesn’t have the best interests of artists. He wants the funds to be allocated where they are needed most.
“It’s not that the NUP Principal doesn’t want the industry to be invested in, but misappropriation, misallocation, and misuse of resources have led to frustrations,” he said.
It should be noted that the musicians federation has been ripe with a lot of controversies. It’s leader Kenzo has been accused of conniving with the government to control musicians.
This is being done under the disguise of working on the copyright law.
