Forbes Ranks Bobi Wine As The Richest Musician In East Africa As Diamond Platinumz Trashes The List

Renowned American publication Forbes released a list of the richest musicians in Africa and it has left people moving tongues. On this list, Ugandan musician and politician Bobi Wine is ranked among the top richest in Africa and the richest in East Africa.

Forbes has cultivated a name for itself as a credible source for ranking the wealth of different people and groups globally. The list is has predominantly Nigerian artists who without a doubt boss the African music industry.

On this list, Forbes was able to name some East African artists and former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu is on number 16. Forbes valued the singer at 7.2 million dollars which is equivalent to shs25 billion. He is followed in 17th by Tanzanian bongo flavor star Diamond Platinumz. Diamond is valued at $6.7M (23) billion making him the second richest in East Africa.

Ugandan heavyweight singer Jose Chameleone completed this list coming in at 18th in Africa and 3rd in East Africa. Forbes valued the ‘Valu valu’ singer at $6.2M (shs21 billion).

However, this list did not sit in well with Wasafi records CEO Diamond Platinumz. He called it ‘stupid and baseless’.

Taking to his Instagram, the ‘Jeje’ singer reacted with distaste to the rank. He then advised Forbes to Google him before they write trash about him.

“FORBES: Next time Google me to know how much I am really worth before putting me on your Stupid Richest African Musicians list!!!!!,” Diamond wrote on his Instagram page.

This is not the first time musicians are calling out Forbes on their shambolic rankings. American rapper Kanye West once called out Forbes for lying about his net worth.

Owing to Diamond’s recent success both musically and commercially, most of his fans trashed the report. These believe he is worth more than that as CNN ranked him at $5M five years ago.

According to Forbes, they made this list basing on endorsement value, popularity, show rates, sales, awards, and YouTube views. They put together using factors such as endorsement value, popularity, show rates, sales, awards, YouTube views, appearance in newspapers, investment, social media presence, influence among others.
