MP Thomas Tayebwa Quits Deputy Speakership Race

Ruhinda North MP Thomas Tayebwa has quit the deputy speakership race. This means he has left the space for Bukedea Woman MP Anita Among. Most probably she is winning because she is the one NRM CEC had endorsed for deputy speakership race.

However, MP Tayebwa, had threatened to stand as an independent today regardless of CEC’s decision.

Speaking to journalists, though, Tayebwa says he was not forced to step down at all. However, he revealed that he had a chat with President Museveni before taking this position.

“My President is the Father of the Nation. I have to listen to him.” Hon. Thomas Tayebwa said.

Meanwhile, rumor has it that Tayebwa was sighted in so many groups and circles yesterday. He reportedly received so many calls concerning the same and most probably this has pushed him to step down.

Tayebwa informed journalists that he had to first get assurance for his security when it comes to his interests before stepping down.

Apparently, he has been receiving so many threats from known and unknown people telling him to respect CEC decisions. If MP Tayebwa had not stepped down, NRM would be having two independent candidates. That is Kadaga for speaker and Tayebwa for deputy.

MPs have turned up in very big numbers to cast their votes for the people they want. Of course, the main people of the day are Kadaga and Oulanya.
