Second Bus Rams Into Truck In Just 24 Hours

A second bus has crashed into a stationary trailer truck within just 24 hours after a link bus had the same accident.

The accident happened on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023 on the Kampala Gulu highway around Wakisanyi in Kiryandongo district. Apparently, a Crown Coaches bus collided with a broken-down vehicle.

“M/V UAQ 409D Isuzu bus belonging to Crown Coaches bus company crashed into the M/V UAN 902 Mitsubishi Fuso on Wednesday afternoon, which led to one casualty who sustained severe injuries,” Micheal Kananura, the police traffic road safety communications officer said in a report.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident came about due to reckless driving and road obstruction. Apparently, the Fuso truck had parked by the roadside after breaking down when this second bus knocked it.

Kananura revealed that they immediately took the unidentified injured passenger to Kiryandongo Hospital for treatment.

This crash follows a similar crash between a Link bus and a stationary vehicle that claimed the driver’s life. It rammed into a parked truck at Mukunyu in Kyenjojo district on the Kampala-Fortportal highway.

According to police reports, this happened to be the third accident between vehicles and stationary trucks claiming lives.

Last week on Thursday, business man Apollo Nyegamehe aka Aponye died after his Toyota Landcruiser rammed into a stationary truck.

Police has urged all drivers to place reflectors both at the front and back of broken down vehicles.
