UPDF Captures 34 ADF Terrorists As Troops Enter Terrorist Territory

The UPDF in partnership with Congolese Forces have captured 34 Allied for Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels in joint military operations.

The operations are being carried out by the two countries against the IS-linked terrorist movement in DR Congo.

UPDF spokesperson Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso recently released a statement to provide an update on the movements of the troops.

It said the UPDF has been at Mukakati Forward Operating Base for a week. It also said they have been carrying out military activities that enhance combat readiness against ADF terrorists.

However, she noted that their preliminary results from the airstrike and artillery of November 30th indicated 31 freed Congolese hostages. It also said they destroyed four enemy camps.

In addition, the UPDF Engineering Brigade working with FARDC has embarked on opening up the impassible stretch of the main supply route from Mukakati.

This will help ease passage through R.Semilik Bridge.

According to the UPDF, the dilapidated and narrow stretch of 14kms has slowed down the advance of the UPDF ground offensive against the ADF terrorists.
