10 Most Corrupt Police Forces Globally, Where Does Uganda Rank?

Globally, each country has a Police force whose major aim is to keep law and order. However, there are those that are corrupt and all corrupt Police forces universally have something in common. Their public image is always clearly against every principle they are supposed to stand for. From Police brutality to corruption, murders, theft among other evils, lots of police officers might be some of the most hated civil servants.

Below are the top 10 most corrupt Police Forces. Find out where our own Uganda Police stands as it doesn’t have a great public record.

1. Nigerian Police force.

World Internal Security and Police Index (WISPI) in their statistics ranked Nigeria police as the worst police force in the world. This force has an aggregate score of 0.255. We will agree with this using the SARS division as a yardstick.

2. Congo DRC Police

The world Internal Security and police Index ranked Congo second. Could this be a ploy against just African countries? Maybe, maybe not. However, reports have shown a huge increase in corruption in the police force in Congo.

3. Mexico Police Force

According to reports, the income of these police officers is low thus they get involved in protecting drug traffickers. This is seen in most policemen in Mexico as there is a high levelof greed.

4. Kenya Police.

Corruption cuts across different sectors, although the world Internal Security and police Index ranked Kenya third, we feel they should be fourth because of the increase in corruption in the Kenyan police force.

5. Iraqi Police.

This corrupt police force is also known for participating in the kidnapping of citizens, payment of ransom and bribery. That’s the height of it. People charged to protect you are the ones after you.

6. Sudan Police

They are known for beating citizens at checkpoints and taking bribes. Imagine getting flogged for refusing to drop something for them at the checkpoint, that’s the reality in Sudan. These are the masters of corruption.

7. Russian police force

High level of Police brutality, extorting bribes, and all manner of blackmail of citizens are all the activities in which the police forces of Russia indulge in, apparently.

9. Burma Police/ Myanmar

The corruption level of the police force of Burma is troubling the citizens. Additionally, these police forces make the victims pay for the criminal investigation that they take up. They are known for extorting money from the civilians of the country.

8. Pakistan Police force

Arresting innocent citizens and taking bribes from them is the leading ‘task’ of the police force of Pakistan. They also have a way of getting away with most crimes they commit

10. Somalia Police.

The police force of Somalia is ineffective and is underpaid because of which they indulge in. Stealing, extortion and bribery are the order of the day here.

Well, there you have it. A disappointment for many as the Uganda Police Force can’t be found anywhere in the top 10. Some Ugandans actually feel that it should have the top spot but it seems like our Force is doing quite fine as it is. Well, that is probably if they haven’t laid a hand on you yet. However, their performance is not as bad as those in the list
