Argentina Relying On Messi To Rescue Their World Cup Bid

At the start of the World Cup, Argentina arrived in Doha on a 36-match unbeaten run and were one of the overall favorites. However, they met a surprising Saudi Arabia team that defeated them 2-1 leaving Argentina in an unstable position.

Today, the team will be looking to save their World Cup skins as Messi and his teammates face Mexico. They however cannot afford to lose this match.

The Argentines revealed that they will look back to memories of their superstar Diego Maradona who passed away about this time two years back. They will draw inspiration from their 1986 World Cup-winning captain to move past the Mexicans.

“We keep him in mind. He was a very important person in world football, and not just for us Argentines,” said Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.

The Argentines know they cannot afford a repeat of their opening match in Group C and all eyes are on Lionel Messi to lead the charge.

On Saudi Arabia’s side, they will hope to assert their dominance at the World Cup against Robert Lewandowski and his Polish teammates.

Lees Diwali is still looking for his first World Cup goal of his career after missing a penalty in the goalless draw against Mexico.

In other games today, France has a chance to book their slot in the last 16 if they defeat Denmark. Australia will also face another big hurdle in a robust Tunisian side.
