Bobi Wine Blames Museveni For Missing The Kyabazinga’s Wedding

Opposition political party, the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader, Bobi Wine has blamed President Museveni for his absence at the Kyabazinga’s Wedding.

The much-anticipated wedding happened on Saturday at the Busoga Kingdom palace headquarters in Bugembe. It was attended by high-profile figures both from within the country and abroad. Government officials were in plenty at the ceremony.

The likes of the first son and presidential advisor, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Deputy speaker of Parliament, Hon Thomas Tayebwa, Hon Rebecca Kadaga among others.

There was a notable absence of opposition leaders at this wedding. Bobi Wine was expected to attend since he contributed to the wedding and enjoys widespread support in the Busoga region.

However, he said that it was his wish to attend but he was blocked by the President and his son’s security.

According to the former presidential candidate, he was invited to this royal wedding by the kingdom’s premier, Dr Joseph Muvawala Nsekere.

The former Kyadondo East MP hastily concluded his trip abroad. He returned to the country on the eve of the wedding. Unfortunately, he was informed that the President and his son didn’t want him near the wedding for fear of chaos.

“I was invited to the wedding by the prime minister of Busoga Kingdom. Unfortunately, I failed to go there because I was blocked. I made sure to return on the eve of the wedding but I was informed that Museveni and his son were there and their security didn’t want me around. However, I want to congratulate the Kyabazinga, his new queen and all the people of Busoga,” he said.

Meanwhile, President Museveni didn’t attend this wedding. He was represented by Vice President H.E Hon Jessica Alupo. It’s therefore not clear if the politician was indeed warned not to attend.
