Bobi Wine, Joel Ssenyonyi Reportedly Arrested In Zimbabwe

The head of People Power group, artiste and MP for Kyadondo East, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine who a couple of days attended a conference of the Zimbabwe opposition party known as Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) has been arrested by the security officers.

The MP who has been officially invited by the chairperson of MDC, Mr Chamisa Nelson as the chief guest at the conference in Gweru, a city in central Zimbabwe was assaulted off by Zimbabwean security operatives at Robert Mugabe International Airport immediately after his arrival on Saturday.

Bobi Wine who was accompanied by his new spokesperson, Ssenyonyi Joel were arrested at Robert Mugabe International Airport and detained for more than two hours.

One of the Zimbabwean reporter confirmed to us that it’s true the MP and his spokesperson were detained for security reason and later released.

The spokesperson for MDC, Mr Mufume Jacob also confirmed the arrest of Bobi by Zimbabwe security operatives.

The Kyadondo MP was not arrested alone, other leaders who were arrested included Owino Babu, the Kenyan legislator for Embakasi and Kenyan opposition for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party secretary General, Mr Sifuna Edwin.
