Bobi Wine Warns NUP MPs Of The Temptations To Come

The NUP party’s president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has warned the newly-elected NUP MPs that they are going to face a lot of temptations. Among these temptations is money from Museveni and ministerial positions in the parliament.

Kyagulanyi also spoke to the press for the first time since he was put under house arrest on January 14 after the polls. It has been almost 11 days since then but yesterday, the court ordered the military to vacate his premises.

Kyagulanyi held the meeting with the press at his home in Magere on Tuesday. It started with the former NUP presidential candidate speaking to the 61 NUP MPs- elect.

In his speech, Kyagulanyi told the elected leaders to be cautious of the needs of the people who elevated them. He told them to make sure that they represent the voice of their supporters in the 11th parliament.

‘’The regime is going to give you money. You must have heard Museveni saying that he is going to finish our group. He is going to give you a ministerial position and if you refuse, they will intimidate and arrest you. But please comrades, do not disappoint our people,’’ Kyagulanyi said.

He said it is more important now than ever for this generation to put an end to the 35-year rule of President Yoweri Museveni. He then urged the elected MPs to not get comfortable in the positions. This is because the Ugandans want representation in Parliament.

Bobi Wine’s comment on the recent elections;

He ended by commenting on the recently concluded presidential elections where he came second to president Museveni who got 58% of the cast votes.

He reaffirmed that he won the election and that he would exploit all legal and non-violent means to challenge the results in the coming days.
